I've downloaded the route but there are no consist files to run with the activities.Keep getting error messages that are looking for the consist files that aren't there.Didn't know if you were aware of the missing consist files.

RE: The A Line route Beta is out!!!!!!!!!

Same here - series of error messages in the editor, such as those you get when you delete a loco and forget to delete a consist containing it; but when you go into consists folder to de-bug, the consists aren't there. Also takes a long time "loading terrain buffers" - advise just be patient, or does this indicate a problem? Finally - "train world initialization failed" error ms., game crashed, and no fun was had. This looks like it's going to be swell when it gets lined out, Jason and gang; been watching your site, downloading equipment and anticipating release; and I'd have e-mailed these gripes instead of posting here but couldn't get your e-mail buttons to work and couldn't find your address.

Jason-
Other than the missing consist files for the activities included with the route, the only other thing I have noticed is that the route is calling up the commercial sounds, Enhanced Track Audio. It worked fine for me because I have it, but some out there may not have it and I fear it may cause the game to crash? If you can't seem to get the route to load (those out there having problems) try deleting the file "ttype.dat" and renaming "ttype.old" to "ttype.dat" and see if that cures your problems; those that prevent you from running the route after you go through all the missing consist messages. I just went and backed up the activity and service folders and then deleted all files in those folders until we get the consist files that are needed. That way you don't get the error messages each time you try to run the route. Hope this helps out those that may be having problems.
Regards,
Dan Zollner

RE: The A Line route Beta is out!!!!!!!!!

THAT'S the ticket! Yeah, my problem was not running the bat file. Only thing is, I thought I had run it on install, from a prompt. So on my second attempt I went inside the scl folder, clicked directly on the bat icon and ran it that way - with better results. All and all, it's a pleasure to find an add-on that's this easy to install.Your route has a really nice look - it definitely has personality. It actually looks like a working road. It's the only MSTS route I've seen that has one track crossing another. And there are plenty of y's for turnarounds. I do get an error message, however, even after downloading and installing the separate consists files; it's failed to find sms file
file: raeurotrack0ex.smsAnd John Peterson's U36B looks like it's riding on skis, for some reason.Your A Line route sure doesn't disappoint. Looks like I'll be late to the office . . .

For anyone who hasn't seen my separate post, here's where to get the missing consist files: http://www.train-sim.com/dcforum/User_files/3d29686c39b383ef.zipJust unzip to your Trains/Consists folder and three A-Line activities should be ready to run.

Yeah, good question - me too. There are mile posts, but they number in the 800's. So they apparently depict real-life mile markers and not distances from one end of the route in the sim.Another question I have is, what percentage of the route do you feel is scenic complete?

RE: The A Line route Beta is out!!!!!!!!!

It's about 120 miles, fully signalled from Benson Junction (about 25 miles north of Orlando) to Tampa Union Station, and unsignalled the rest of the way to Port Tampa at the south end of the Interbay Peninsula between Tampa and St. Petersburg. There are still a few areas without scenery, but in the major areas with yards, industries or downtowns and especially around the Orlando-Winter Park-Sanford area there is a lot of scenery, including orange groves, palmetto and pine forests, the St. Johns River, and numerous modeled buildings from the prototype. There will be scenery updates as more buildings on the route are modeled.I will be working on activities for the route over the next several weeks, concentrating on loco downloads available from the A-Line site and from John Peterson's alabamarailfan.com site.

Thanks for the info on A Line. As is, you get a kind of "oasis" effect between completed sections; but I think you were right to release the Beta. The positive feedback ought to more than compensate for any carping.

I downloaded your route today. It's not bad but I have a few questions. First of all my copy dosn't have mile markers. Am I supposed to have them or will they be included in a further release? Second, I got some error messages saying something to the effect of "Could not find raeurotrack0ex.sms" and "Could not find reaurotrack0in.sms". Where can I get these files? Third, a bunch of tracks in the yards are not named. Is that normal? I installed everything just like the instructions said. I even had to go to the route directory to start the batch file myself.Other than that it's a good route. Now I'm going back to run more trains.Joe

RE: The A Line route Beta is out!!!!!!!!!

Same thing here with the error message as you point out something to the effect of "Could not find raeurotrack0ex.sms" and "Could not find reaurotrack0in.sms". "Anyone know where these files are from? Where to get them? They have something to do with sound I think? Isn't that what the .sms files do? Other than that the installer does NOT automatically run the .bat file even though it prompts you if you want to run it....I still had to do it manually. It's the missing files that concern me though...I'd like to know what they're for and whether not having them will crash the game. We all know how much fun that is.bill

Kyle-
In the SCL folder(complete path on default installation is: c:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Train Simulator\Routes\SCL), in your routes folder, you will find 2 files among the many there. The ones you are looking for are named ttype.dat and ttype.old. Delete the file ttype.dat and then rename ttype.old to ttype.dat. After doing this you shouldn't get your error messages anymore.Regards,

RE: The A Line route Beta - a mini review

>Go up and read post #8. Your solution is there. Sure enough...that fixed it! Thanks for the help! No more missing .sms file message. Okay, here's my initial, very preliminary, opinion of the route. I have NOT run the entire route end to end so bear that in mind. I have run a portion starting from an area that I am very well familiar with...the TAMPA area and heading east to Orlando and Sanford. The proof of a good rendition of a route or scenery (since I used to do FlightSim scenery) is having your scenery or route be 'recognized' by others --- that is, landmarks, resemblance to real features. From what I've seen of the route so far, I'd rate it very highly. Downtown Tampa is a very good representation. The train does go directly into the heart of the downtown area and this route shows that. The port area is there with the tracks in the right spots, although not yet scenic'd. Ybor City to the east of downtown Tampa is minimally depicted, but done correctly with the proper 'period' style of architecture...more buildings of a similar style will probably be added. East of Tampa going near Brandon and Valrico there are yards and huge automobile auction and light industry sites could be added here. Again, the trackage is in the right spots. Further east going toward Plant City we get into a lot of orange grove areas and very large orange juice production facilties. Interstate highways and local highways that run along the tracks from Tampa east to these areas are nicely shown. I'll need to get along further in the route for more commentary but the area in Orlando and going to Sanford was a realistic depiction too. What's to be done? More scenery -- a lot more. But the major track work is in and over such a large area the task of adding the scenery items will be extensive. Thankfully, a lot of the area covered will be large expanses of open savannah typical of Florida, with hammocks of cypress and southern pine trees spattered across the flat green wide open areas. Take those and sprinkle in plenty of palm trees and palmetto and you'll have it. Personally, I'm excited about this scenery with my first impressions of it. There's a lot to do, see, and travel. I look forward to running some Amtrak trains from Sanford north...anyone got a Trailer Train? Orange juice trains will be a common site too, along with produce and lumber. This scenery shows a lot of promise. It should be fun to see it develop and grow.bill

I did that trick too and I'm also happy with the results. No more missing .sms messages. Furthermore, I am impressed with the route. The switching possibilities seem endless. I can't wait to operate a local. Yes, the scenery does need alot of work. I thought I was seeing things when I saw the floating road crossing signals around downtown Orlando. However, I can live with it. Besides, now I have something to look forward to.Joe
