Hi all, when trying to run BVE 2.5, all I get is an error window pop-up saying "table string error".How do I get around this?, all previous versions work fine.

Hi,check if you have installed the original english string.ini.
If not then download it from a site that offers the english string.ini for Bve 2.5.

I downloaded BVE 2.5.3 from Mackoy's site on two occasions a month apart, but I still get the same problem.Best wishes, Bob.

>Best wishes, Bob. If the message that you get is "String Table error" (not "table string error"), check the string.ini file in your BVE main folder (I assume C:\Program Files\Bve if you have an US or UK version of Windows).The second text line in the string.ini file must contain this:
Version=2050001
probably you will find some other version showed.I thik the the simpliest cure is to delete every file in that folder (except sub-folders) and then reinstall BVE exactly as showed at Anthony Bowden's http://www.railsimroutes.co.uk/bvehelpCheers,

Would uninstalling the old BVE first work better than deleting the files,since the old stuff would still be in the registry?

If the previous string.ini was been modified by hand or overwritten, probably the uninstallation process doesn't remove it.Luigi Cartello
