As suggested by CPR_Malice, I think we should nominate persons that we find would make good moderators on the BVE board.Rules:1. You may not nominate yourself.
2. You may, at most, nominate two (2) persons. Do so in the same post.
3. Give at least two (2) reasons why the person or persons you are nominating would be good moderators.
4. The nominations shall be open for a period of five (5) days from the time of posting, at which time the request/suggestion will be made to Nels Anderson to give this person's account moderator status on this board only.
5. The five (5) persons with the most votes in this thread will be placed into a poll. Everyone can vote for who they think is best out of the given five (5) members within the poll.
6. Please reply in the format below:Username of First Nominee
-Reason 1
-Reason 2Username of Second Nominee (if applicable)
-Reason 1
-Reason 2Please remember, whoever is chosen will be making some certain descisions on behalf of the community, so nominate wisely.Now... let the nominations begin! EDIT: This is not in poll form because if I am to make a poll I must name names, and it should be open to anyone in the first leg.Tim Frost

Tim Frost also for reason mentionedAlso they already are working together and are in good contact with each other. Plus each is 12 hours apart from each other living on other sides of the pond which will mean someone is on line at all times.jason

My Nominee is Philip. (Stooopid_person)- The first reason I would like to say is that he is rather active. If anything goes wrong, he can quickly be there to take a look at the situation.- The second reason is strange, but yes, it is because he is not famous for any routes/trains yet. This is based from a previous incident at Train-Sim.com where a rogue mod went on a power-trip because he was made one for his fame/works. (If I remember correctly)- He was originally nominated as a moderator when plans for a BVE Forum were in place back then.

Good luck to those who take on the job. Both Vern and I know very well how hard is to deal with some of the kids that invade BVE forum regularly. Let's hope the chosen mods will have an easier task in front of them.

Maybe Mailer Diablo
He has experience in moderating in the TOC Game forum.
He was also one of the orignally picked mods(but due to username problems...)
If the above is not a good reason, he also stays up till 2 a.m. to see the forums...I may nominate more... But I have to think first... PS Mailer Diablo, the mods power-trip was not fame. Once he became a mod, he started pulling everyone over with oversized signature, even though his own one was oversized as well...

I actually emailled the author of train-sim.com with a suggestion to make it better, IE mod's.

RE: Nominations for BVE Board Moderator

I have been watching this forum as I find it interesting but not enough to dl and install BVE, plus I look at all the forums. Now for my 2 cents worth. It may be best to try to find someone who is not involved with BVE. There have been problems with a mod who was involed with both skinning and a mod. There have been times I found a serious conflict of interest that occured. Even with the best of intentions, those with a vested interest do tend to shade their views. I hope that this would happen, it might be best to get a third party for it.Kevin Arceneaux

The trouble with that is, I don't believe that person would have the perspective required in the event of, say, arbitrating a dispute about object use or other permission-type stuff, you have to appreciate a system from the inside to understand its true workings and make the most enlightened decisons.... That is not the mods job here. They are only to keep the peace and some semblance of decency. But even then that would still be better for a third party to be the mod.For example:

May I be totally frank?Ok, I disagree completely with this idea, and here is my reason :-The "inner workings" of a Bve community depend on many subtle balances, not all of which are apparent unless you know some practices involved with it. The fact that all the forum admins require is a person to 'police' the area is irrelevant to the needs of a safe and permanent community spirit, and this is where the inside knowledge can make the difference between the right and the wrong decision, since everyone is more inclined to bow to the advice of one of their own; I think (unless it's stooopid himself) a non-bve developer would not be able to do this convincingly. What this actual forum, not any other, but this one, needs is someone with the eyes of a hawk, a will of iron and a good dollop of magnanimity and humour. We can be very happy here, and productive, look at the sea change that has come over the place since the nameless one was binned, do you want to put all this burgeoning talent in the hands of one who is not concerned with the finer points? I hope not, else I withdraw from the nominations. You need passion and dedication here, I hope whoever is selected has it in spades, trouble is never far away and if we are to protect and survive then actions must be swift, immediate and popular. It is for this reason I say Phillip (stooopid), and Mailer D should take up the task, Stoopis is persistent and alway stops things, and Mailer D does a fantastic job over at the TOC game message board! And Wulf you would be good too, actually think abouts how you managed to annoy Anas! But I do think we are all good moderators ourselves?! Just remember United we stand Divided we fall. We all united against that troll Anas and we got him out!
