RE: Let's see somethin'

Here's my new rendition of the new PRRR SD40-2. These will replace the prior models available at Train-Sim and PRRR Website (Hoodoo Pass). I have just now completed the PRRR and Cascade SD40-2 models repaints that will feature 3 different loco numbers for each livery.Kip

Those look a little familiar there Kip!
I don't mind if you use my skins as a base, it is actually kind of a compliment that you like them enough to use them! I'm not going to cry or scream that someone is using my work, I'm pretty easy going! I would just please ask at least a mention in your readme file or something....Let's see somethin' – image 10Let's see somethin' – image 11Let's see somethin' – image 12

RE: Let's see somethin'

To: Engineer KyleWay ahead of you. After I had made the other reskins (Cascade/PRRR) I was going to contact you...and yes...the credit was already done on text file. I found that your skins' base is alot more "reskinnable" friendly than the BNSF skins of the original MSTS 1.2 version. I have a Cascade version somewhere...will show it later. I must say that the skins on the UP version you did are very well done and easy to use as a base of other skins. Thanks!KipLet's see somethin' – image 17

Thanks everyone for the compliments on the pics! Also thanks Kip for your compliments. Like I said earlier, I'm pretty easy going so I wasn't upset. (Just jumped the gun I guess! ) I can't wait to see your cascade repaints! I need to go visit your site and get your route, it is one of several on my "must download" list! I know that you like to use something very similar to the UP color scheme for your PRRR Kip, so if you are interested I have a UP project in the works that you may be interested in converting over to PRRR. Drop me a private message here on the forums with your email if you are interested....

Thanks Kyle! Yes, the PRRR livery colors are beige, maroon and B&W. Having the Armor Yellow of UP and desaturating them (in PS) I have a good gray color basis in getting the correct livery colors. Convenient. You can E-Mail me at comet61@kendra.com. All I need is an address...you get the route. Pretty simple. Thanks again! Here's a pic of the Cascade SD40-2. There are actually 3 with different loco numbers.

CP Short, in Cleveland's West Park neighborhood, circa 1987:Let's see somethin' – image 22Local train YIRO-14 is on the west leg of the Van Bergen Wye turning onto the ex-Big Four Flats Industrial Track as it's tail end clears Rockport Yard. The train is heading for NS's ex-W&LE Cleveland Belt Line to Campbell Road Yard where it will interchange with the River Terminal, Cuyahoga Valley and Newburgh & South Shore.Let's see somethin' – image 23Same train now crossing Interstate 71 on the Cleveland-Brooklyn-Linndale border. Note the famous (or infamous) Linndale speed trap under Memphis Avenue. The cops will have to be patient until I get around to placing car spawners.Homer

RE: Let's see somethin'

Hey, great pics there, before I saw the caption on the last pic I was wondering if that was either I77 or I71, and then I saw you said it was I71.Where did you get those bridges? I really like the one in the foreground. How far south are you going to go with that Cleveland route? I'm doing Akron, right now the farthest north I go is Cuyahoga Falls but someday I might make it up to Hudson and Twinsburg. I have a part of the old CT&V (now CVL) line in Akron, and also a portion of the old NKP line (now the WLE Cleveland line) in Mogadore. I'd like to make it into Kent eventually too, Erie used to have a huge yard there many years ago.Your route is looking good, I'd like to see you do the Flats area back in the time when it was still an industrial area. I've always wanted to see a Cleveland urban route, I'd do it myself but I don't know the area that well.Jeff Leslie

RE: Let's see somethin'

Thanks for the praise, I have gotten a couple of emails as well.>Where did you get those bridges? I really like the one in
>the foreground. The bridge in the foreground and the rail bridge over Memphis were two of my first projects using Gmax. I plan to redo both to make them more prototypical when I get better with the program. The Memphis Ave. bridge over I-71 is by Bruce Bridges (appropriate name). It is available in the library.>
>How far south are you going to go with that Cleveland route? Berea on the west end and Collinwood on the east including portions of the B&O branch from Lester, NYC's Short Line, Big Four's DK yard and W&LE's Cleveland Belt Line. Oh, yeah, and of course the NKP main line & their Cuyahoga drawbridge.>I'm doing Akron, right now the farthest north I go is

As a fellow Clevelander (born and raised in Fairview Park and Bedford) I've been watching your posts quite carefully. Can't say how glad I am to see someone working on a MSTS route of the area. More than enough interesting things to model, sure you'll be busy on it for quite a while. Are you planning on releasing your route to the public in the future?Your last screenshot reminds me of an old postcard I have that shows the multitude of tracks that led to CUT and the Post Office complex. Looks good!(how about a couple of billboards near the downtown area advertising the Ghoul on channel 61 and Big Chuck and Hoolihan on TV8). Thanks for the screenshots and the updates.Dave Mikulec

Terminal Tower, that's sweet!Jeff LeslieEDIT: BTW, the NKP line I was referring to was the AC&Y interchange with NKP in Mogadore, along the NKP Cleveland - Canton line. That point was actually the eastern terminus for the AC&Y until it all became the W&LE under N&W ownership, and today it's just W&LE. All I have modelled now on that old NKP line is the interchange yard and about a mile north and south from the yard. It ran from Canton north through Mogadore (which is just east of Akron) to Kent and then through Hudson on it's way to Cleveland.I have the entire AC&Y done through Akron, as well as the entire Akron & Barberton Belt. The PRR line in Hudson that you remember ran southwest(railroad west) from Hudson to Cuyahoga Falls, down into Akron then through Barberton on it's way to Warwick, where it turned back northwest toward Chicago. It shared the B&O line from Cuyahoga Falls to Warwick. I have over 200 miles of track down, and it's mostly city track in and around Akron.
