I'm wanting to do some repaints of the TA "default" SD40-2 cabview nose to match locos I've got. The question is, do I repaint sd402frnt, sd402frnt1024, or both? Thanks for any responses- -I figured I'd try here before posting in the Livery/Repaint forum.

RE: TA SD40-2 Cabview repaint

Do both as some folk here are using a lower resolution than others.Me,I prefer the high resolution.

RE: TA SD40-2 Cabview repaint

OK, I wasn't sure if there was a "technical" reason that required both of them, or if they were there so that people could chose which one they wanted. I can do repaints of both. Hopefully I'll be doing output soon!

I think you can just repaint the sd402frnt1024 and then resize it to 640 * 480 and convert it in your paint program. That'll save you some work. Most paint programs do a decent job when you resize a picture, at least it's worth a try.

RE: TA SD40-2 Cabview repaint

Is there some sort of trick for converting cab .tga files to cab .ace files? I've done it a million times with locos, but cannot get TGATool to cooperate for converting either the 1024 tga file or the 512 tga file that I repainted. I tried both sorts of compression, but still get nothing, not even an error message. I get all the usual messages (i.e. *.ace already exists, do you want to overwright it?) and the little "progress bar" goes, but it does not convert. I've checked and double-checked to make sure I'm writing to the correct folders. Aarrgghhh! I wish SOMETHING would work CONSISTENTLY with this sim!
