16. "RE: Train Sims: Why?"
In response to message #0

>> Well down on this forum , there are several people who just love to brag about their stuff. They like to get a following ( kids mostly) and rant and rave how their stuff is the best. If MSTS had not been shipped with an editor and you had to hard code every thing to make a addon things would be alot different. ----------------------------------------------------------------------

You know, I wasn't going to respond to this or make a scene, but it bothers me.I feel like that is what this and all the other forums are all about. It is one big flea market and we are showing our wares!I don't care if someone wants to toot their own horn, I toot mine sometimes. What's the big deal? You go to Ttain Artisan, they're tooting their own horn, you go to 3D trains, they're tooting their own horn, you go to NALW, Justin Cornell, etc, etc, so what's the big deal???I just wanted to say, In my own words, not to flame anyone, or get any fires started, TOOT YOUR OWN HORN!I want to see you TOOT YOUR OWN HORN!I LOVE to see new stuff you, ALL of you, are working on!We are not just making some garbage we're trying to pass off.
There are some (okay a LOT) of talented people out there, and I love to see them toot their horn and stand up proud and say 'LOOK WHAT I MADE!'It's what this country is all about. It's what this forum is all about. Be proud to display you wares, and I'll be happy to see them, download them, and show you mine as well!!

RE: Brag about Your Stuff!!!

"It is one big flea market and we are showing our wares!"Given the long hours and work that builders and other craftsmen put into their projects that are normally freely shared, how about a "smorgasboard" or "Home Depot" of the train sim world? I'd prefer not to think of it as a flea market peddling used goods or Home Shopping Network selling things that no one bought when in stores. I enjoy the train-sim community because of its overall professional atmosphere as well as camaraderi and encouragement in the common effort. Sometimes we get a bit off course, so if the shoe fits...Aloha, Jeff Link

I agree! Tooting your own horn is a good thing. 99% of the content creators gracing these forums have horns worth tooting! (That's right, 1% of you suck bad! ) So show us what you're working on. -Jeff

RE: Brag about Your Stuff!!!

Oh. my firends, believe me I mean no disrespect. Folks sell hand made crafts as well at flea markets.
"Smorgasboard" or "Home Depot" whatever you wish to call it is fine, I just pulled the best words I could find at the moment.
The whole point of this post is for me to tell you I woke up this morning and it just dawned on me "I Love you all".
Thank you for bringing your talent into this wonderful world we call 'train-sim.com'.
And most of all thank you Nels, for bringing this all to us!

RE: Brag about Your Stuff!!!

Well, they say it ain't braggin' if you can get it done, Dadbill! You've been such a cheerful and generous member of this forum that no one could begrudge you puffing up a little, even if you weren't the outstanding reskinner you are. So far I've made just one personal request of an MSTS artist: it was to you, for a B&O F7B, and you very kindly obliged. I really appreciated it, along with the rest of your great repaints, and I hope you're around here for a long time.

RE: Brag about Your Stuff!!!

Hey, cobber, what's up down under? Speaking of bragging, what have YOU done lately? Somebody said there was a Trainz version of PO&N out, I got so many requests from people wanting to do a Trainz version I don't even remember them all. Was that you that made Trainz PO&N?

G'day Jim.. Glad to see ya around still, I'd read a rumour that you'd left with the rest of the old school There has been a layout made of the PO&N , but not by me.. Its done by a fella that goes by the nick of Thackalane and he's done a great job of it. I havent ridden the PO&N rails since i got trainz and lost MSTS back in November 2001 and one quick fly around in the map (Trainz) and I easily picked up spots i recall from what seems so long ago now .. And true to Form, Im now busy modifying it to my own design... Here is the thread over at the Trainz forum about it..http://www.auran.com/trainz/forum/showthread.php?s=c010bfad219795d54aff2a27b98e7f01&threadid=29038&highlight=PO%26NSo now I definatly have no need to load MSTS as if I did.. I'd only do it to try your PO&N again or the latest version of Ohio rails.. they were all I used anyway.. Guess I just need Ohio rails for Trainz now Have Fun !Catchya
