I wouldn't count on it my friend.I remember some where about someone asking the same thing and the response was most people have high speed or something to that effect. And I definitely remember chuck saying that they wouldn't break up the pack.Frank Roberts

whether or not they decide to, it still would be a better idea. All of those big locos (and the cars) in one pack like that cant be healthy for any computer to download at once. Maybe some of us only want the FEF or only the big boy version 2im old enough to drive nowUP steam megapack – image 6

RE: UP steam megapack

Your forgetting...its FREE! Either download it as is, find someone to send you the file on a CD, or move on to something else. NALW produces some awesome stuff, hence the huge file size, so complaining about this and that, isn't nessersary. And no, I'm not bashing you becasue i have a cable connection and you don't, becasue i too am on dial up, and i just ask someone to send me files on CD every so often and give them a few bucks for the trouble.Chris Bogley

RE: UP steam megapack

No.
We don't have the time and don't want the extra work it takes to track revisions on many small files.... Usually the stuff all interlocks anyway and in this case the cabs all used shared components and the sounds the same so We probably couldn't cut any one package below 20 mb....

Besides, there are already individual examples of some, but not all, of those engines in the library. These started coming out almost immediately after the megapacks appeared . Look for the loco descriptions that say things like "based on," or "thanks to NALW" or "..original by". You may not always get what you want, but you can certainly get what you need!

HAPPY NOW? It's not moving anymore.
It's still the same train but in another livery, that's all.

RE: UP steam megapack

I read many posts, such as this, from people who have dial-up connections and find that it is difficult and sometimes impossible to download large files. As broadband becomes more common, file sizes increase and the poor guys who do not have broadband are left in the dust. I spent many years using dial-up, not because I wanted to, but because I had no other choice. I know that many people here, who have dial-up connections have no other choice available to them.
Has anyone given any thought to a private file sharing system using a sharing network software like Direct Connect? I would think that something like this could be used by the Train Sim community to trade and share Freeware MSTS addons. This could also help people looking for old stuff, like the Empire State Express that is no longer offered for download. I know that someone will chime in with objections to doing something like this, but it is no worse than someone burning a CD of their MSTS addons and giving it to a freind. I do not see a problem with sharing Freeware addons with other members of the MSTS community. Bill

RE: UP steam megapack

That would sort of defeat the purpose of a "megapack" wouldn't it? Besides, I have a dial-up and I downloaded it. It's totally hassle free if you get a download manager like getright. You can download multiple streams of the same file. (speeding up the download a bit) But the big plus is download resuming. You can pick up where you left off if you don't feel like downloading it all at once.Check it out.
