Aug-27-01, 09:13 AM (EDT) 6. "RE: A High Speed Train - NYC Stylee....." Some ideas just have to wait for the right time. The GM AeroTrain (based on the Spanish Talgo) was a dismal failure in the mid-50s, but has resurfaced in an updated form as the Acela. Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Aug-28-01, 04:59 PM (EDT) 8. "RE: A High Speed Train - NYC Stylee....." Pics are from Stan's Railpix, www.trainweb.com/railpix (sry Stan, I forgot to mention it if ur reading)Acela and that 'thing' don't have a lot in common, Acela having more in common with European developments than gas turbine superpower. however, I wouldn't like to be in the last coach hauled by one of those, although a derailment couldbe amusing (in TS of course) with the 'thing' flying through the air like, like.... like a jet powered train in the air!.
I don't think it would of worked for normal service, particularly when passing trains of combustables! Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top
