I will let you guess what I did to the pic in paint. This is a good idea I got. Faster than diesel and can now run on the line because of electrification. And they also have third rail for when Shore Line East continues to Grand Central. I think that Shore Line East should go to Penn Station. They could use they ol' diesel stuff for a new line to Hartford!. Me's got goood ideee-aaa's!!-NHtrain

RE: What to do with old MNRR M-2's

One problem. Most of the stations along Shore Line East have low level platforms. It would be too expensive for Amtrak and ConnDot to change them to high level. It might be easier to either use the extra FL9s or P32s or to use electric locomotives with Shoreliner or SPV2000 cars and run them into Penn Station.

To make it cheaper Cdot/MNRR/Amtrak could modify the doors on the M's or put steps on the platform for the doors. Well, At least it is a good idea.-NHtrain

It still isn't worth it. You would have to relocate parts of the train's underbody systems for each door you want to doctor.Stuart D. Guberman

That leaves the Stairs and ramp solution. Still not very good. Better yet! Cdot can take The AEM-7's that amtrak is replacing with the HHP-8. I would love to see a NH AEM-7! They could add third rail units for GCT. I want to think up a solution that gets rid of all diesels. Diesels are too slow speeding up a and down. The diesel could be used on my idea of a hartford line. While I am dreaming I would like New Haven along with Hercule Poirot, John Cleese, Calvin and Hobbes and Monty Python to take over the world. !-NHtrain
