Both kids in Hazard will be upset about this, as well as the one up in Hyannis.
BobSeriously though, wonder if they would let the general public "subsidize" the employees? It would not be a lot to cover their lodging and meals?? Anyone know who to talk to about the possibility??

Do I hear a 'Bah, Humbug!' ?I'm sure there are hundreds of employees willing to work; as long as they continue to get paid for doing their job..How does BNSF define the Santa Train as not 'working for BNSF'..? Normally you get paid for stuff like that..'Overtime', they call it..Don't they?

RE: BNSF Nebraska Santa Train cancelled

I think the idea of John Q. Public helping finance the operation is fine idea. Afterall,
we know how destitute the management end of RR's are, they need all the help they
can get. <sarcastic mode off>A bit of 'unofficial' scuttlebutt I've heard is that employees at other terminals are a
bit miffed at the situation, and that there are in fact many that would be willing to
volunteer their time. But, because of various operating reasons, certifications needed
for the area to be run, etc, the crews/manpower had to come from terminals/divisions
that normally service the route.

Yeh, I heard that BS also here in Lincoln...makes me a little upset when the RR tries to make it look like the crews are scrooge-like and saying "if you want me to do something like that, you will have to pay me a lot of money or just forget it!"We conductors and engineers would be more than happy to volunteer our services, we just ask that we be paid a regular trip with lodging, just like we get with any other run. It sure is funny that the CEO's and top brass can take as many trips as they want around the country in their business cars, and they don't think twice about paying for as many crews as it takes to get to where they are going. But I don't see them saying they will cut back 1 trip and use the money for the crews to operate the Santa Train.Lets put the "humbug" right in THEIR laps...not the crews...Chaz

Chaz
